Carol Lee Smith

Carol L. Smith, 79, of Warfordsburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Doey’s House, Hagerstown, MD.

Born Wednesday, May 7, 1947, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Violet Marie Keefer Harris.

Carol was a graduate of Southern Fulton High School, Class of 1965. She went to work in Washington D.C. for one year until her marriage to Leon Smith in 1966, when she began her favorite job as a mom and wife.

She was a member of Whips Cove Church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Whips Cove Pals Group.

Carol enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband; you could always find her following him along on these adventures. She also loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved spoiling all the grandkids.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Leon Smith of Warfordsburg, PA; one daughter, Tina Shifflet of Warfordsburg, PA; three grandchildren, Ashely True, Kristen True and companion Tyler, and Brady Shifflet and companion Maddy; two brothers, Steve Harris and Bob Harris, both of Hagerstown, MD; two sisters, Sandy Barnhart of Chambersburg, PA, and Judy Eader of Waynesboro, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, she is predeceased by her precious daughter Tammy True.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Whips Cove Church, 5044 Moss Rd, Warfordsburg, PA 17267.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11:00a.m. at Whips Cove Church. Pastor Delmas Bard will officiate. Burial will follow at Jerusalem Church Cemetery, 269 Church Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Fellowship will be at the Whips Cove Social Hall following the burial.
