Bruce Edward Douglas, age 82, went to be with the Lord, at his home surrounded by his family, on Monday, April 24, 2014.

Born Monday, November 10, 1934, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Ora and Mattie (Winters) Douglas.

He was a veteran of the cold war, serving in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, eighteen months of which were spent guarding the iron curtain in Germany.

He had been employed as a fuel delivery person for Highway Express Petroleum Product Wholesalers, in Hancock; H. A. Hesse, Inc.; and A C & T. He also worked as a timberman.

He was a member of the Mountain State Cruisers, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Bruce attended Sunday School at the Damascus Christian Church, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa.

He is survived by his companion, Sharon Knight; an adopted son, Justin Douglas Knight; and a brother, Marlin Douglas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin Douglas, Marvin Douglas, Eugene Douglas and Ellis "Pappy" Douglas; and two sisters, Thelma McKee and Lucille Weller.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Chaplain Kibreab B. Gudeta will officiate. Burial will follow at Damascus Cemetery with Military Honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21742.
