Barbara “Bobbi” A. Ruppenthal Smith, age 74, of Hancock, died on Friday, September 9, 2016 at her home.

Born January 4, 1942, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of the late Leslie H. and Helen L. Baker Ruppenthal, and the widow of the late Junior “Jack” D. Smith.

She attended schools in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

She attended the Hancock United Methodist Church.

She was employed for 25 years by the National Lunch Restaurant, and 25 years at Pittman’s IGA.  She was also employed by the Park-N-Dine Restaurant.

She is survived by three daughters, Jackie Younker and husband, Blane, of Mercersburg, Pa., Adaline Smith, of Hancock, and Kimberly Small and husband, Earl, of Hagerstown, Md.; three brothers, Lewis "Buck" Ruppenthal and wife, Rosie, of Hancock, Wayne H. Ruppenthal and wife, Florence, of Needmore, Pa., and Bernard "BeeBee" Ruppenthal and wife, Shirley, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two grandsons, Kyle Younker and fiancé, Megan, of Needmore, Pa., and Adam Younker, of Mercersburg, Pa.; one great-grandson, Liam Younker; several nephews; and one niece.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three daughters, Brenda, Linda, and Kathy Smith; and three sisters, Sarah "Betty" Hovermale, Phyllis Blasy, and Bernice Louise Ruppenthal.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock United Methodist Church, 170 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. For the convenience of family and friends, the church will be open at 10:00 a.m.  Rev. Michael Bynum will officiate, assisted by Rev. Duane Jensen.  Graveside services will follow in the Black Oak Mennonite Church Cemetery, 2247 Stoneybreak Road, Warfordsburg, Pa.  Pallbearers will be Kyle Younker, Adam Younker, Buck Divelbliss, Bart Ruppenthal, Jeffrey Ruppenthal and David Ruppenthal.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Hancock United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Md. 21742, or The American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home in Hancock.
